Grey cast iron

  • The principal physical characteristic of grey cast iron is the presence of graphite flakes.

Properties:

  • Good machinability
  • Good thermal conductivity
  • Good vibration dampener capacity
  • Wide range of mechanical properties
  • Used for commercial, industrial and institutional applications
  • Used for gravity flow plumbing systems and street casting products

Production capacity and equipment:

  • Counter weight 54 inches diameter cupola
  • Production rate of 15 tons per hour
  • Daily production capacity of 300 tons
  • Two channel-type induction furnaces for holding iron

Grades:

  • Classes 25B and 30B per ASTM-A48
  • Classes A and B per ASTM-A126

Ductile cast iron

Properties:

  • Excellent ductility
  • Good resistance to impacts
  • Mechanical properties similar to some steel grades
  • Used for industrial and commercial applications
  • Used by municipalities for water distribution systems and for street casting products

Production capacity and equipment:

  • Two low frequency 15 tons coreless induction furnaces
  • Production rate of 6 tons per hour
  • Daily production capacity of 120 tons
  • Magnesium treatment performed by cored wire

Grades:

  • Class 65-45-12 per ASTM-A536
  • Class 70-50-05 per ASTM-A536
  • Class 80-55-06 per ASTM-A536
